The bail hearing for a 25-year-old man accused of murdering his pregnant wife in Suva has been rescheduled to October 31. Apisai Madigibuli appeared before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere at the Suva High Court this morning for the hearing. His lawyer, Paula Gade, requested additional time to address new documents submitted prior to the hearing.
State lawyer Monisha Naidu previously informed the court that the prosecution has a robust case against Madigibuli, supported by CCTV footage and a post-mortem report. Naidu also mentioned that Madigibuli allegedly used a mobile phone while in remand to communicate with his daughter, who is currently living with the sister of the deceased, a key state witness, in Savusavu.
Madigibuli is accused of fatally stabbing Kitiana Baravilala with a kitchen knife on April 25.
