A 38-year-old man from Vidogo Settlement in Vatuwaqa is set to appear in the Suva Magistrate Court tomorrow, facing murder charges. The allegation stems from an incident on New Year’s Eve when the accused and six others engaged in a drinking party.
According to reports, the situation escalated on New Year’s Day around 10:00 a.m. when a fight broke out, resulting in the suspect assaulting a 32-year-old manager, who subsequently fell motionless to the ground. After the altercation, the suspect took the victim to CWM Hospital, where the victim unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations revealed details of the events from statements given by the six witnesses who were present during the incident. The individual has been formally charged with murder in accordance with Section 312 of the Crimes Act of 2009 and will be appearing in court to face these serious charges.
