A man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa, Suva last month appeared in the High Court in Suva yesterday for his initial hearing.
Anare Vuli Cilicewa, 31, faced a charge of murder presented by Puisne Judge Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu. It is alleged that on September 9, in Raiwaqa, Suva, Cilicewa killed Sabreen Shahib Ali.
During the proceedings, Cilicewa informed the court that he was not yet represented by legal counsel but had submitted an application for support from the Legal Aid Commission.
State Prosecutor Zenith Zunaid indicated that the prosecution requires an additional seven days to provide full disclosures. He also noted that further police investigations are needed, and additional information would be presented at the next court appearance.
The case has been adjourned until October 16 to allow for updates on Cilicewa’s legal representation and the provision of full disclosures. During the adjournment, Cilicewa’s production order was extended.
Before concluding, Zunaid mentioned he would be occupied with another case but would ensure another prosecutor is present to represent his interests in court.
