The case involving a 31-year-old man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa has been moved to the High Court in Suva. Anare Vuli Ciliceva appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou at the Suva Magistrate’s Court, facing a single count of murder.
The offense is alleged to have occurred on September 9, when Ciliceva is said to have killed Sabreen Shahib Ali. During the proceedings, Ciliceva requested to reserve his right to obtain legal counsel, mentioning that he needed to make overseas calls to secure funding for a lawyer.
Magistrate Savou granted him time and informed him that due to the seriousness of the charge, which is an indictable offense, the case would be referred to the High Court. Ciliceva will remain in custody for the time being, and the court has provided him with 21 days to prepare his Alibi Notice. The case has been adjourned until September 30.
