Murder Case Transferred: Suspect Seeks Legal Aid in High Profile Trial

A 31-year-old man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa last Monday has had his case moved to the High Court in Suva. Anare Vuli Ciliceva appeared in the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday, facing a murder charge for the alleged killing of Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9.

During the proceedings, Ciliceva expressed his intention to reserve his right to legal counsel, stating he needed to contact individuals overseas to secure funding for a lawyer. Magistrate Jeremaia Savou granted him time to make those arrangements. As the charge is classified as indictable, the case has been transferred to the High Court. Ciliceva will remain in custody while the court has allowed him 21 days to prepare his Alibi Notice. The case is scheduled to be revisited on September 30.
