The case involving a 31-year-old man accused of fatally assaulting a woman in Raiwaqa last Monday has been moved to the High Court in Suva. Anare Vuli Ciliceva appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou at the Suva Magistrate’s Court, facing a single count of murder.
It is reported that on September 9 in Raiwaqa, Suva, Ciliceva allegedly murdered Sabreen Shahib Ali. During the court session, Ciliceva expressed his intention to reserve his right to legal counsel, stating he needed to make overseas calls to secure funding for a lawyer.
Magistrate Savou allowed him time to arrange this and explained that because his charge is an indictable offense, the case would be forwarded to the High Court. Ciliceva is to remain in custody, but the court has provided him with 21 days to prepare his Alibi Notice. The case has been adjourned until September 30.
