Murder Case of Raiwaqa Man Moves to High Court: What’s Next?

The case involving a 31-year-old man accused of fatally assaulting a woman in Raiwaqa has been moved to the High Court in Suva. Anare Vuli Ciliceva appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou at the Suva Magistrate’s Court, where he faces a murder charge.

The alleged incident involving the victim, Sabreen Shahib Ali, occurred on September 9 in Raiwaqa, Suva. During the proceedings, Ciliceva expressed his intention to secure legal representation, stating he needs to make calls abroad to arrange funding for a lawyer.

Magistrate Savou granted him additional time and explained that as his charge is an indictable offense, the case would be transferred to the High Court. Ciliceva will remain in custody while the court has allowed him 21 days to prepare his Alibi Notice. The case is set to be reviewed on September 30.
