The case involving a 31-year-old man accused of fatally assaulting a woman in Raiwaqa last Monday has been moved to the High Court in Suva. Anare Vuli Ciliceva appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou at the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday, facing a murder charge.
It is alleged that on September 9, in Raiwaqa, Suva, Ciliceva murdered Sabreen Shahib Ali. During the proceedings, Ciliceva expressed his intention to seek legal counsel, stating that he needed time to arrange funding for an attorney overseas.
Magistrate Savou granted him time, explaining that due to the nature of the charges, which are indictable offenses, the matter would be escalated to the High Court. Ciliceva will remain in custody until the next hearing, but the court has provided him with 21 days to prepare his Alibi Notice. The case is scheduled to reconvene on September 30.
