Murder Case Against Raiwaqa Man Moves to High Court

A 31-year-old man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa has had his case moved to the High Court in Suva. Anare Vuli Ciliceva appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou at the Suva Magistrate’s Court, facing one count of murder related to the alleged killing of Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9.

In court, Ciliceva expressed his intention to reserve his right to legal counsel, explaining that he needed to make calls overseas to secure funding for a lawyer. Magistrate Savou granted him time, noting that the case, being an indictable offense, required its transfer to the High Court.

Ciliceva will remain in custody while he is given 21 days to prepare his Alibi Notice. The case has been adjourned until September 30.
