The bail hearing for a 25-year-old man accused of murdering his pregnant wife in an apartment in Suva has been rescheduled for October 31. Apisai Madigibuli appeared before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere at the Suva High Court this morning.
During the hearing, Mr. Madigibuli’s attorney, Paula Gade, requested additional time to review new documents received prior to the hearing. State lawyer Monisha Naidu previously informed the court that the prosecution has a robust case against Mr. Madigibuli, which includes evidence from CCTV footage and a post-mortem report.
Previously, Ms. Naidu highlighted that Mr. Madigibuli had used a mobile phone while in remand to contact his daughter, who is currently living with the deceased’s sister, a key witness in the case, in Savusavu.
Mr. Madigibuli is accused of fatally stabbing Kitiana Baravilala with a kitchen knife on April 25.
