The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has prosecuted a 79-year-old male, accused of rape and indecent assault against a 13-year-old.
According to the June 2024 DPP Rape and Sexual Offence Statistics, there was an incident involving a 59-year-old male charged with the rape and sexual assault of his 15-year-old niece. Additionally, a 40-year-old and a 33-year-old man were respectively charged with the alleged rape of their 19-year-old and 15-year-old nieces.
A 42-year-old man was also charged for allegedly raping his 42-year-old wife, but due to lack of evidence, these charges were dropped. Other accused persons include a 20-year-old alleged to have raped an 11-year-old, and a 38-year-old charged with the rape and indecent assault of a 13-year-old girl of his village.
An 18-year-old male was charged with the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl. Moreover, the DPP cites that four cases were discontinued, following a filing of Nolle Prosequi due to reasons like insufficient and inconsistent evidence or being unable to locate or contact victims, along with the death of the accused in some cases.
