Miss Hibiscus, Melania Tora, received a traditional welcome ceremony in her village of Sabeto, Nadi, on Saturday. The community, known as the Vanua o Betoraurau, celebrated her victory as she has promoted both her village and Fiji internationally, according to clan leader Kiniviliame Mokotanavanua.
The event was attended by Tui Sabeto, Ratu Viliame Mataitoga, who expressed pride in Ms. Tora’s accomplishments. “Your success shines as a beacon of hope and inspiration to many,” he stated, congratulating her as their remarkable daughter. Ms. Tora, who was crowned just two weeks ago and sponsored by Tents and Awnings, was met with admiration from her community.
During the celebration, Ratu Viliame emphasized the significance of Ms. Tora’s representation, stating that she has made the name of her vanua, Na Momo na Tui Sabeto, known far and wide. Ms. Tora expressed her gratitude for the support and guidance she received from her chief and the community, attributing her success to their encouragement, prayers, and devotion.
