Melania Tora, the newly crowned Miss Hibiscus 2024, maintained her positive spirit amid the week’s events by attending church to express her gratitude to God for her victory. The 24-year-old emphasized that giving thanks and praising God are essential components of her life.
Tora, who has familial ties to Vanuabalavu in Lau, expressed her excitement to celebrate her achievement with her community in Sabeto. Following a service held at the USP Laucala Campus, she reflected on her personal journey and testimony, stating, “Being with Jesus is so wonderful. I am not perfect, but I have experienced His grace and love.”
She remarked that whether or not she wears the crown, she feels victorious through her faith. Tora acknowledged the support she received from her community, saying she was delighted to have their encouragement and is eager to celebrate with them soon.
Additionally, Tora highlighted her commitment to advocating for various groups, including cancer survivors, sex workers, and juveniles. She shared that her experiences over the past two years have prepared her for this platform, allowing her to promote sustainable changes through these organizations.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet and grow with the other contestants, Tora described her journey as an overwhelming yet fulfilling experience filled with both challenges and joy.
She encouraged future participants not to hesitate in joining the competition, regardless of their backgrounds. “If you believe you can make a real difference in the community, I encourage you to take that risk. It’s an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Tora advised.
