Melania Tora, the reigning 2024 Miss Hibiscus, remained unfazed by the week’s excitement and activities, choosing instead to attend church to express her gratitude to God for her victory. The 24-year-old highlighted the importance of thankfulness and praising God in her life.
Tora, who has roots in Vanuabalavu, Lau, is excited to celebrate her win with her family in Sabeto. After a church service at the USP Laucala Campus, she reflected on her spiritual journey, stating, “Being with Jesus is so wonderful. I am not perfect, but I have my own journey and testimony.”
She continued to express her appreciation for the support she received from her community, saying, “To have the vanua stand behind me is something I didn’t know I needed, but I did. Their messages of support have been invaluable, and I am eager to celebrate with them soon.”
Tora plans to continue her advocacy for those in need, noting her previous two years of work with cancer survivors, sex workers, juveniles, and various community organizations. “This platform allows me to advocate for these groups and help drive real, sustainable change,” she explained.
Expressing gratitude for her fellow contestants, Tora acknowledged the challenging yet rewarding experience of the pageant. Despite the early mornings and emotional moments, she felt supported and strengthened through her faith.
She encouraged future participants to seize the opportunity, saying, “If you feel you can make a real difference in the community, go for it. It may be uncomfortable, but it is a once-in-a-lifetime amazing experience.”
