Miss Hibiscus ’67: Meet the Four Contestants Making Waves

The 1967 Miss Hibiscus contest garnered significant attention, with the contest committee expressing satisfaction over the number of participants, as reported by The Fiji Times. A press release revealed the names of four of the eight contestants for that year’s pageant.

While the committee had originally hoped for 18 entrants, the latest announcements introduced Miss Clara Hoong, Miss Linda Hadden, Miss Annette Lepper, and Miss Ann Ah Jack.

Nineteen-year-old Clara Hoong works as a stenographer and enjoys reading, dressmaking, indoor basketball, badminton, and watching movies. She is sponsored by Bridgestone Tyres in collaboration with Caines Jannif Limited.

Twenty-year-old Linda Hadden, also a secretary and stenographer, is sponsored by Burns Philp (South Sea) Company Limited. Her interests include horse riding, swimming, dancing, and reading.

Miss Annette Lepper, aged 21, works as a receptionist and is sponsored by the Fiji Hotel Association. Her hobbies include swimming, water-skiing, reading, and cooking.

Nineteen-year-old Ann Ah Jack, a cashier, is sponsored by Morris Hedstrom Limited and enjoys basketball, dancing, gardening, meeting people, and collecting records as her main hobbies.

The contestants followed a full itinerary that was organized before the festival, which took place from September 7 to October 8, 1967.
