Melania Tora, crowned Miss Hibiscus, received a traditional welcome ceremony in her village of Sabeto, Nadi, on Saturday. The community, known as the Vanua o Betoraurau, celebrated her achievement, highlighting how she has promoted Nadi and Fiji on a global stage, according to clan leader Kiniviliame Mokotanavanua.
The event was honored by the presence of Tui Sabeto, Ratu Viliame Mataitoga, who expressed pride in Tora’s accomplishment. He stated, “Your success shines as a beacon of hope and inspiration to many. Congratulations to our amazing vulau (daughter)!”
Sponsoring her journey was Tents and Awnings, and she was crowned two weeks prior to the celebration. Ratu Viliame remarked on the significance of Tora’s representation of her roots, thanking her for elevating the name of her village and chief’s house, Na Momo na Tui Sabeto, both in Fiji and abroad.
Acknowledging her support system, Ms. Tora expressed gratitude for the guidance, prayers, and encouragement she received from her vanua that contributed to her achieving the Miss Hibiscus title.
