Prashantika Prasad, a 22-year-old aspiring model, is looking to enhance her confidence as she competes for the Miss Fiji Universe 2024 title in Mexico later this year. Currently in her fourth year of medical studies at the University of Fiji, Saweni Campus in Lautoka, she views this pageant as a unique opportunity to grow.
“I entered this pageant to take up an opportunity that does not always come by in hopes of becoming more confident,” she expressed. Her main message is to promote self-confidence and encourage individuals to seize available opportunities, acknowledging that embracing spontaneity often leads to personal growth.
Prasad aims to raise awareness and support initiatives that focus on building resilience and empowering youth. She emphasizes the importance of education and intends to advocate for rehabilitation and support for individuals dealing with severe mental health challenges and drug addiction.
Her long-term aspiration is to complete her education and become a healthcare provider. Reflecting on her experience, she noted, “I have gained a lot of respect for girls who step up on such big platforms and give their best. I have learnt the importance of female unity as I have learnt so much from all the contestants.”
A former deputy head girl at Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College in Nadi, Prasad participated in her school’s band, contributing vocals to the lead song for the official music video. In addition to her musical talents, which she shares with her father, Shalendra Shambu Prasad, she is an active member of the University of Fiji’s musical band. Outside of her studies and music, she enjoys playing tennis and engaging in community service during medical camps.
