Carol Wallen, an 80-year-old from Melbourne, Australia, had planned a joyful trip to Fiji with her son Darren to celebrate her milestone birthday. However, while staying at the Sheraton Fiji Resort, she fell ill and was initially taken to a local clinic before being transferred to Nadi Hospital due to the severity of her condition.
Darren’s determination led him to search for better medical care, prompting a swift transfer to PSH. Unfortunately, Mrs. Wallen suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest, with her heart stopping for approximately 10 minutes. Thanks to the rapid and expert actions of the hospital’s specialists, particularly Dr. Ratu Vereniki Raiwalui, she was successfully resuscitated and placed on multi-organ support.
Mrs. Wallen expressed immense gratitude towards the medical team, proclaiming her recovery as nothing short of amazing.
