Ministry’s Budget Allocation Sees $6.4m Boost

The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources has been allocated $36.5 million in the latest budget, marking an increase of $6.4 million compared to the previous year.

Minister Filimoni Vosarogo, contributing to the Budget Debate this week, stated that this increase would enable the ministry to enhance its commitment and effectively manage and regulate the land and mineral resources sector.

“We will work towards our collective effort to ensure our service delivery in the next financial year is better,” Vosarogo said.

“This Government’s budget may not have the elaborate language of previous administrations, but it focuses on addressing the everyday needs of Fijians, especially those living farther from main urban centres and peri-urban areas of Fiji.

“It must be remembered that this Government is only 18 months old, and we are doing the best we can with the resources available.

“The previous government and its founding platform led Fiji for 16 years.

“We are merely scratching the surface in repairing our economy and revitalizing Fiji, as envisioned by our founding fathers in the pre- and post-independence democratic era.”
