Ministry of Education Cracks Down on Unruly Behavior

The Ministry of Education has strongly condemned an incident where a bus was stoned following the Eastern zone Deans rugby competition over the weekend.

Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro is scheduled to meet with the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union today to discuss the future participation of schools and students involved in violent and unruly behavior.

Radrodro emphasized that the Ministry of Education will not hesitate to suspend schools from participating in the Deans competition if their actions threaten the safety of others.

“Students and teachers are reminded once again that sports are a unifying activity and a professional career path for many Fijians, and we cannot allow the sport to be tarnished by such indiscipline and violence,” he stated.

Radrodro is urging all schools and students to urgently engage in serious discussions on this matter.

He further noted, “Schools and students should be aware that in the past, provincial teams have been suspended from local competitions due to violent and unruly behavior by fans or team members. We will not hesitate to take similar actions.”

“The safety of the general public, students, and fans is paramount,” Radrodro added.
