Military Commander Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai has expressed his commitment to the national reconciliation process, stating that the military will actively participate in it. He indicated that while the military is launching its own initiatives, the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) will collaborate with the national truth and reconciliation committee.
Maj-Gen Kalouniwai emphasized that the military’s involvement at this level will not hinder its efforts to support the committee’s objectives. In an interview, he mentioned that taking proactive steps is crucial for facilitating the reconciliation process across the nation.
“Our engagement will help ease the committee’s workload and contribute to a more effective reconciliation effort,” Maj-Gen Kalouniwai remarked. He highlighted the importance of the RFMF establishing connections with individuals affected by past coups, stating, “We will piggyback on them.”
