Michael Joe is making a comeback in the business world. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, he has transformed from a farmer and grocery store owner into a landlord and now a property developer.

Recently, he held a groundbreaking ceremony for a $6 million development project in the capital. This initiative follows the closure of his well-known supermarket, Joe’s Farm. During the ceremony held in Samabula, Tui Suva, Sanaila Madanavosa, praised Joe for his entrepreneurial spirit.

The new project features the first of several Joe’s Farm buildings currently under construction on Ratu Mara Road. A three-story complex is scheduled for completion by December next year.

Joe’s journey showcases his ability to adapt and innovate in business. He is a serial entrepreneur involved in various roles, including farmer, golfer, exporter, business consultant, and investor.

He mentioned a joint venture with Cibus New Zealand, aimed at exporting locally grown produce from farms across the country. Additionally, Joe is collaborating with the Government to establish contracts for farmers.

This month, one of his business initiatives will bear fruit as he exports coconuts and dalo from Rotuma. “A truck will go around the island to collect both products for export, marking a first for Rotuma,” he stated, adding that the initial shipment to New Zealand is on its way.

Joe attributes his success to a straightforward principle: “Fear the Lord.”
