Methodist Church Unveils Bold Business Expansion Plans

The Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma is set to enhance its business operations with the upcoming launch of a service station, a shopping complex, and a ten-story building within the next two years. Additionally, plans are underway for a broadcasting company dedicated to television and radio, to be established over the next five to ten years.

Manasa Vatanitawake, Secretary of the Communication Department, emphasized that the initiative aims to assist both the community and the church’s mission. “We want to clarify that we are not creating these businesses for the church’s profit,” Mr. Vatanitawake stated. “The purpose of these ventures is to aid the people and promote our message.”

By March or April 2025, the church plans to open a service station in Davuilevu and a shopping complex. The following year, the Lako Yani ten-story building is also anticipated to be inaugurated.

These projects are designed to generate funds that will support the church’s mission of disseminating the gospel and addressing the daily needs of the community. The church also discussed strategies to assist its members amid rising living costs and stagnant wages.

Moreover, the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma announced a reduction in the regular levy for congregation members from $15 to $13.50, with the church utilizing its business initiatives to cover the $1.50 difference per person.
