Lako Yani Management Pte Limited, the commercial arm of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, has commenced construction on a 10-storey building located on Stewart Street in Suva. The project, valued at $46 million, is anticipated to be finished by 2026.
Sereana Qoro, the chief executive officer of Lako Yani Management, noted that this is one of two significant projects planned for this year. “The first project is the 10-storey building on Stewart Street, adjacent to the current Reverend John Hunt building. This is the church’s largest project, and construction has begun. We expect it to be completed by June 2026,” Ms. Qoro stated.
In addition to the Stewart Street building, another noteworthy project—a service station—is being built in Davuilevu. The land for the station is owned by the church, and it is expected to be completed within 10 months, aiming for a 2025 finish date.
The Stewart Street facility will feature eight floors dedicated to office space, two floors for retail shops, and a food court along with various business activities on the lower levels.
Furthermore, the management group is considering the development of Furnival Park into a sporting complex that will include a 4,000-seat stadium, a multi-purpose gym, and a parking area with 220 spaces. The park will also feature an internationally-standard rugby and soccer field along with a 1,000-seat pavilion.
Ms. Qoro emphasized that the Furnival Park project is a long-term initiative for the company.
