Methodist Church President Urges Bold Transformation and Missionary Focus

The President of the Methodist Church of Fiji, Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou, has urged the Church to move away from its stagnant, conservative approaches. During the opening of the Methodist Church Conference, known as ‘Bose Ko Viti’, he emphasized the need for a transformation in mindsets and attitudes as the Church continues its journey under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Reverend Turagavou warned that if the Church remains unwilling to change, God may choose to elevate His Church through others. He stressed that God’s work does not require human consent, as He will accomplish His mission with those willing to partner with Christ to restore His true image within the Church.

The Church President called for members and delegates to step outside their comfort zones and take an active role in missions. He articulated that the Church should embody relational values, mirroring the relationship that the Church has with a relational God.

“Today, God is calling on the Church to extend its boundaries and step out of our comfort zones. He challenges His Church to embrace a relational and welcoming stance, grounded in the sacrificial love of Jesus,” he concluded.
