Methodist Church in Fiji Unveils Ambitious Expansion Plans

The Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma is preparing to enhance its business operations with the launch of a service station, shopping complex, and a ten-story building within the next two years. Additionally, the church is considering a five to ten-year plan to establish its own broadcasting company for television and radio services.

Manasa Vatanitawake, the Secretary of the Communication Department, emphasized that the initiative is designed to assist the community and further the church’s mission. “We want to make it clear that we are not setting up the business to profit the church,” Vatanitawake stated. He explained that the goal is to aid the people and promote the mission by spreading their message.

Plans indicate that by March or April 2025, a service station and shopping complex will be opened in Davuilevu. Following this, the Lako Yani ten-story building is expected to be completed in 2026. These projects aim to generate funds to support the church’s mission in reaching out to individuals through the gospel, as well as to address the community’s daily needs.

Furthermore, the church has announced that the regular levy will be reduced from $15 to $13.50, as they will utilize the revenue from their business ventures to cover the remaining amount of $1.50 per person.
