Methodist Church in Fiji Unveils Ambitious 10-Storey Building Project

Lako Yani Management Pte Limited, the business division of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, has initiated the construction of a 10-storey building located on Stewart Street in Suva. The project, which holds a value of $46 million, is anticipated to reach completion by 2026.

Sereana Qoro, the chief executive officer of Lako Yani Management, announced that this building is one of two primary projects planned for this year. “The first major initiative is the 10-storey structure on Stewart Street, situated adjacent to the existing Reverend John Hunt building. This is the church’s largest project to date, and construction has begun. We expect it to be completed by June 2026,” Ms. Qoro explained.

In addition to the Stewart Street building, a service station is being developed in Davuilevu, which Ms. Qoro described as another significant project. This venture, also on church-owned land, is projected to take 10 months, with an expected completion date in 2025.

The new building on Stewart Street will feature eight floors dedicated to office spaces, two floors for retail shops, as well as a food court and other business activities on the lower levels.

Furthermore, the management group is exploring the development of Furnival Park into a sporting complex, including plans for a 4,000-seat stadium, a multi-purpose gym, and a parking area that can accommodate 220 vehicles. The park will also include a rugby and soccer field built to international standards, complete with a 1,000-seat pavilion.

Ms. Qoro noted that the project at Furnival Park is intended to be a long-term venture for the organization.
