Rosi Doviverata, co-founder of Women in Media Fiji, emphasized the importance of male colleagues’ support in the media industry to advance women’s roles. At the conclusion of the 7th PINA Media Summit in Niue, she recognized the significant backing from male industry members that has helped create a safe environment for female journalists.
Doviverata expressed gratitude for male allies, mentioning Mr. Stanley Simpson and Mr. Anish Chand as examples of support during the summit. She pointed out that this collaborative effort demonstrates progress achieved in Fiji with the assistance of male colleagues.
She urged male leaders across the Pacific to extend their support to female journalists, encouraging their engagement and active listening. Doviverata called for male colleagues in countries such as Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Samoa to rally behind women journalists to foster a supportive atmosphere.
Additionally, this summit marked the first time Women in Media (WIM) chapters were represented.
