Memoirs of a Political Luminary: Harish Sharma’s Inspiring Journey

A new book titled “The Road to Parliament,” detailing the personal and political experiences of former National Federation Party leader Harish Sharma, was unveiled yesterday at Jai Narayan College.

Harish Sharma, who also held the positions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Housing, Urban Development, and Information following the 1987 General Elections, shared his journey through the pages of the memoir.

Professor Biman Prasad, the current NFP leader and Deputy Prime Minister in the coalition government, praised Mr. Sharma, calling him “an embodiment of wisdom, authority, goodwill and a shining example of what one can achieve in life through political morality, transparency and accountability.”

Prof. Prasad highlighted the remarkable achievement of Mr. Sharma nearing 90 years of age and beginning to pen his memories, calling it “nothing short of a miracle.” He noted that Sharma’s tremendous memory and ability to recount past events is indeed impressive.

“The Road to Parliament – A glimpse into the life of Hon Harish C Sharma – is the work of a humble, kind, and honest man of integrity,” Professor Prasad stated.

He also reflected on Mr. Sharma’s challenging childhood, describing how he lost his biological mother at the tender age of one, which would have been a devastating experience for many. Despite these hardships, Mr. Sharma exhibited kindness and resilience.

Prof. Prasad recounted Mr. Sharma’s school experiences, where he faced adversity, being treated as a servant by a family and enduring difficult living conditions. However, he noted that Mr. Sharma’s true character shined through as he confronted and overcame these challenges.

In closing, he emphasized that “The Road to Parliament is the glittering jewel in the crown of Mr. Harish Sharma.”
