The annual Melbourne Cup event held at the Heineken House in Denarau recently raised funds for the ‘Run to Give’ initiative, benefiting various charitable causes. Neeraj Chadha, Multi-Property Vice President for Fiji and Samoa at Marriott International and General Manager of the Westin and Sheraton Resorts Fiji Complex, emphasized the event’s goal of fostering community engagement while providing enjoyable experiences for attendees.

Chadha highlighted that the funds raised contribute to the Markets for Change program, a collaborative effort with UNICEF involving hotels from Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. The recent ‘Run to Give’ effort has successfully gathered over $30,000, showcasing a commitment to ongoing community support.

The event attracted over a hundred participants, including local community members and tourists, and was characterized by a vibrant atmosphere filled with entertainment, food, beverages, and art auctions. The goal was not only to provide a fun experience but also to support rising women entrepreneurs in establishing their businesses.

Attending this lively gathering, PNG-based Eva Mcgoon noted that it was an enjoyable way to engage in charity while savoring good food and drinks. The event drew support from sponsors like Heineken, Lanson, and DGRC, reflecting a strong collaboration among local businesses and community leaders.
