Meet Rowena Acraman: The First Contestant of Miss Hibiscus 2024!

Rowena Acraman, a 22-year-old student and former journalist, has been announced as the first contestant for the 2024 Miss Hibiscus. Known for her diverse talents and commitment to advocacy, she is fluent in English, Hindi, and Japanese, showcasing her passion for learning and cultural exchange.

Rowena’s educational path has taken her from St. Anne’s Primary School to Jai Narayan College, and she is currently studying at the University of the South Pacific. In addition to her academic pursuits, she is a gifted artist, singer, and musician, skillfully playing both the guitar and ukulele. Her interests reflect her appreciation for creativity, bolstered by her self-taught knowledge of Japanese.

Looking forward, Rowena aims to work with a non-governmental organization (NGO) that focuses on human rights and the urgent issue of climate change, demonstrating her desire to make a positive impact globally.

Rowena is sponsored by Apco Coatings, a prominent paint and coatings company in the South Pacific since 1977. The 68th Hibiscus Festival will be held at the Suva Civic Foreshore and Suva Civic Centre from August 31 to September 7. This year’s festival will feature support from FMF and Vodafone as Gold Sponsors, ensuring a week of cultural celebration, entertainment, and recognition of beauty and talent.
