Eighteen-year-old Ciara Radini Nayau Gabriella Ganilau Lee showcases a remarkable blend of creativity, intelligence, and a vibrant cultural background in her pursuits. As the youngest contestant in this year’s Hibiscus Festival, she captivates audiences not only with her beauty but also with her exceptional talents and commitment to social issues.
Crowned as Miss Moutai, Ciara’s inspirational journey began in a home where education was highly valued, thanks to her mother, Adi Koila Ganilau. By age 10, she was learning about entrepreneurship through a family-run clothing business, which instilled in her a sense of resilience, innovation, and a strong business acumen.
Her artistic journey flourished at the Conservatorium of Music, where she trained under Master Lai Veikoso. By the age of 13, she had joined the Mata Dance Company, later transitioning to the Moana Loa Dance Company and ultimately becoming a member of the Oceania Dance Theatre at the University of the South Pacific. Under the guidance of celebrated choreographer Glenville Lord, she excelled in dance, theatre, and modelling, establishing herself as a rising star in the arts.
Beyond performing, Ciara has demonstrated a deep commitment to social causes since she was 14, collaborating with organizations like the Haus of Koila and the Society of Sustainable Entrepreneurs (SOSE). One of her most rewarding experiences was spending three weeks at Wainiyavi Primary School in Namosi, where she provided school supplies and engaged with the local community.
As an advocate for critical global issues such as climate change and human trafficking, Ciara leverages her dance and social media platforms to raise awareness. She has been recognized as a prominent social media influencer through the Regional Pacific NDC Hub’s #SwipeUp4Change initiative, which empowers young climate advocates.
Her impactful performance as Mili in the Butakoci Production highlighted the grim realities of human trafficking, showcasing her commitment to significant causes. Recently, she was offered a trial as a Teens Attendant at Kokomo Island Resort in Kadavu, where she impressed guests with her engaging activities, including hiking and snorkeling excursions.
Ciara’s journey is backed by her sponsor, Kweichow Moutai, a prominent Chinese liquor producer known for its high-quality products and brand strength. As she vies for the title of Miss Hibiscus 2024, Ciara Lee is distinguished not only as a contestant but as a symbol of creativity, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence. The Miss Hibiscus 2024 Festival, scheduled for August 31st to September 7th at the Suva Civic Foreshore and Civic Centre, promises to be an unforgettable occasion, with FMF and Vodafone serving as Gold sponsors.
