McDonald’s to Expand in Fiji: New Outlets Coming Soon

Lami and Nausori are set to welcome new McDonald’s outlets as part of Vuvale Restaurants (Fiji) Limited’s expansion plans. This announcement comes from the parent company of McDonald’s Fiji, which is also involved in property development.

Managing Director Marc McElrath stated that the expansion into these areas would take place over the next 12 to 18 months. He mentioned that a property in Lami has been acquired and is currently undergoing the re-zoning process, with the necessary design work being handled in New Zealand. McElrath noted the increasing traffic between Lami, Pacific Harbour, and the Western Division as a sign of the area’s growth.

Last month, McDonald’s Nakasi opened its doors with notable success, according to McElrath. The new location has generated 55 new jobs, primarily for school leavers, bringing the total number of McDonald’s employees in Fiji to about 400.

The expansion into Nausori is also in progress, with the company evaluating various sites in the area. Extensive work has already been done in Labasa for site selection, and McElrath expressed optimism in finalizing plans within the next four months to facilitate the move into Vanua Levu.
