At the graduation ceremony for the 2/24 Junior Staff Officers Course held on October 4, 2024, Captain Lepani Vaniqi emphasized the critical role of effective communication in leadership. Speaking at the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Queen Elizabeth Barracks Officers Mess in Nabua, Captain Vaniqi, who is also the Director of Finance, Logistics, and Acquisition, served as the chief guest.
During his speech, he praised the Officers Training School Staff for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the success of this year’s Junior Staff Officers Course. Captain Vaniqi highlighted that great leaders throughout history were not only visionaries but also exceptional communicators who inspired and engaged their audiences.
He pointed out that communication is essential for leadership effectiveness and highlighted the importance of leaders actively listening to their team’s feedback. This two-way communication not only shows respect but also validates the contributions of team members.
In closing, Captain Vaniqi stated, “Communication is not merely a tool for leadership; it is the essence of leadership itself. It empowers leaders to inspire, collaborate, manage change, and build relationships.”
