Law enforcement officials have made significant progress in their fight against illegal marijuana cultivation in Malua Range, Navosa, by seizing over 2,000 plants believed to be marijuana during two recent operations. These raids were executed by the Officers from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department following tips regarding the illegal farming of marijuana.
The officers ventured through challenging terrain and even spent a night in the highlands to carry out their mission effectively. Their hard work led them to uncover more than 1,800 plants on one site, while they found an additional 900 plants, with heights ranging from 10 cm to 2.5 meters, on another farm.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of this seizure in disrupting the marijuana supply chain. He highlighted the ongoing efforts aimed at targeting those involved in both cultivation and distribution of illegal substances. Additionally, ACP Driu acknowledged recent arrests and court proceedings that had been made possible through public cooperation and information sharing.
The police continue to encourage the community to assist in these efforts by reporting any suspicious activities anonymously through Crime Stoppers or the provided SOCID and Police Command numbers.
