Law enforcement officials from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department have successfully conducted two significant raids in Malua Range, Navosa, resulting in the seizure of over 2,000 plants believed to be marijuana.

These operations were initiated following credible information regarding marijuana cultivation in the area. Officers faced challenging terrain as they navigated through the highlands, spending a night to ensure they could effectively locate the farms. Their persistence paid off, as more than 1,800 plants were found at one site and an additional 900 plants ranging from 10 centimeters to 2.5 meters were discovered at another location.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu emphasized the importance of this seizure in disrupting marijuana distribution networks. He underscored the ongoing initiatives to combat illegal cultivation and trafficking, noting that several recent arrests and court appearances connected to these investigations demonstrate the effectiveness of community cooperation in reporting suspicious activities.

The public is encouraged to assist in these efforts by confidentially sharing information through Crime Stoppers or designated SOCID and Police Command phone numbers.

This proactive approach by law enforcement not only showcases their commitment to combating drug-related offenses but also illustrates the community’s crucial role in fostering a safer environment. Public engagement in tackling such issues signals hope for a future with reduced drug trafficking and its associated problems.

In summary, the successful operations mark an important stride in the fight against marijuana cultivation, with authorities actively working to maintain the integrity of the region.
