More than 200 rolls of aluminum foil filled with dried leaves and approximately a thousand small branches, suspected to be marijuana, were seized in Tacirua, near Suva, yesterday afternoon.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, the operation was a collaborative effort involving personnel from the Southern Division’s Serious and Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU), and the Police Dog Unit.
The team targeted the residence of a 57-year-old man where they uncovered the illegal substances prepared for sale. ACP Driu praised the collaboration between the community and the police, emphasizing the importance of public support in combating drug-related issues.
“The raid demonstrates the ongoing support from community members in sharing information with the Fiji Police Force,” he stated. “We are grateful to everyone who continues to support our efforts in the fight against drugs.”
