More than 200 rolls of aluminum foil filled with dried leaves and approximately a thousand small branches, suspected to be marijuana, were confiscated in Tacirua, near Suva, yesterday afternoon.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operation, Livai Driu, reported that the seizure resulted from a coordinated raid involving personnel from the Fiji Police Force’s Southern Division’s Serious and Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU), and Police Dog Unit.
The operation targeted the residence of a 57-year-old man, where the illegal substances were found prepared for sale. ACP Driu expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts between the police and the community.
“The raid exemplifies the ongoing support from community members as they partner with the Fiji Police Force in sharing crucial information,” he stated. “We are thankful to everyone who continues to aid our policing initiatives in the fight against drugs.”
