More than 200 rolls of aluminum foil filled with dried leaves and approximately a thousand small branches, believed to be marijuana, were confiscated in Tacirua, near Suva, yesterday afternoon.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, reported that the seizure was the result of a coordinated raid involving personnel from the Fiji Police Force’s Southern Division’s Serious and Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU), and the Police Dog Unit.
The operation took place at the residence of a 57-year-old man, where the illegal items were found prepared for sale. ACP Driu also expressed gratitude for the collaboration between the community and the police.
“The raid reflects the ongoing support from community members who work alongside the Fiji Police Force in sharing vital information,” he stated. “We appreciate everyone who continues to back our efforts in combating drug-related issues.”
