Fijian Drua player Iosefo Masi is being considered as a potential replacement for Semi Radradra at the French Top 14 club, Lyon. Masi entered into a two-year contract with the Drua in 2022, which is set to conclude at the end of this year, and he has yet to renew his agreement.
Reports from Midi Olympique indicate that Radradra’s contract is also expiring and is not expected to be renewed. The article states, “According to our information, the Lyon leaders are currently exploring a key player from the recent Super Rugby season.”
Lyon’s management is reportedly questioning the future of Radradra, who is 32 years old and has made 17 appearances for the club. In a previous statement, club president Yann Roubert expressed his thoughts regarding Radradra and the team’s overall performance.
While Roubert’s comments may appear complimentary, there is uncertainty surrounding the continuation of Radradra’s costly contract. He mentioned, “We hoped for better results last season, not just for Semi but for the entire group.”
He emphasized the importance of the upcoming season as a chance for players to demonstrate their commitment to the team’s values and their ability to improve. Roubert noted, “Players reaching the end of their contracts will have this season to show whether there is a mutual desire to continue.”
Additionally, the last match saw Radradra left out of the starting lineup, as Lyon suffered a heavy defeat against La Rochelle with a score of 43-22.
