Iosefo Masi from the Fijian Drua is being considered as the potential successor to Semi Radradra, his compatriot from Taveuni, at the French Top 14 club, Lyon. Masi, who signed a two-year deal with Fijian Drua in 2022, has a contract that is set to conclude at the end of this year, but he has yet to agree to an extension.

According to reports from Midi Olympique, Radradra’s current contract is also nearing its end with little expectation of renewal. The publication noted that Lyon’s management is actively pursuing one of the standout performers from the recent Super Rugby season.

Semi Radradra, who is 32 years old and has made 17 appearances for the club, is under scrutiny as Lyon deliberates on his future. Club president Yann Roubert has previously expressed mixed feelings about Radradra’s contract situation.

Roubert commented, “For Semi as for the rest of the group and the entire club, we hoped for more and better last season.” He added that the upcoming season presents an opportunity for players to demonstrate their abilities and commitment.

“With every passing season, players find themselves at the end of their contracts, and the performance this term will help determine if there is mutual interest in extending their stay,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of players showcasing their talents.

Radradra did not feature in the starting lineup during Lyon’s recent match, where they suffered a heavy defeat of 43-22 against La Rochelle.
