Marist OB Triumphs in Nail-Biting Quarter-Final Showdown!

The Marist Old Boys (OB) team delivered an outstanding performance as they secured a 13-10 victory against the Draunivau Sharks in the FMF Suva Rugby Union Koroturaga quarter-final held at the Bidesi grounds in Suva yesterday.

The match was tightly fought, with both teams exchanging scores throughout. In the end, Marist clinched the win by a slim margin.

Assistant coach Tadeo Vulaca commended the team’s determination, acknowledging the formidable challenge presented by the Draunivau Sharks.

This victory was dedicated to the memory of the late Belasio Vukiwai, with players and officials donning black armbands in his honor, as well as in remembrance of Tevita Waqa and other players who were lost earlier in the season.

“Preparation leading up to the competition went exceptionally well. This year we fielded two teams, one in the Escott and one in the Koroturaga, with our primary objective being to secure both trophies. Our Escott team is doing well, and we are aiming to bring the Koroturaga trophy back to Flagstaff this year,” said Vulaca.

In other matches, Covenant Red triumphed over Army Red 26-12, while Suva Stallions faced a narrow defeat against Nabua White, losing 23-24.
