Seizures of substances suspected to be marijuana have taken place across all five policing divisions, thanks to enhanced information-sharing among law enforcement agencies.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) ACP Livai Driu stated that drug operations are being intensified as the festive season approaches, with the aim of disrupting the supply market.
In Savusavu, police conducted raids that led to the arrest of five individuals who were allegedly in possession of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
In the Central Division, a man in his 50s was detained at a carrier stand after being found with dried leaves thought to be marijuana. In another incident along Mead Road in Nabua, a man in his 20s was arrested for possessing several sachets of dried leaves and a plastic zip-lock bag containing seeds believed to be marijuana, along with another bag containing white crystals thought to be methamphetamine.
Additionally, in the Western Division, an 18-year-old man was apprehended in Sigatoka town after being discovered with more than 50 dried branches and loose leaves believed to be marijuana.
