Marcelo Montoya Set to Make Waves Back in Australia!

Marcelo Montoya, a former player for the Fiji Bati, is set to leave the New Zealand Warriors and return to Australia. The 28-year-old has been granted an early release from his contract, which was scheduled to end next season.

Warriors general manager for recruitment, pathways, and development, Andrew McFadden, expressed that while the club was willing for Montoya to fulfill his contract, they are pleased he found a long-term opportunity in Australia. McFadden stated, “He has been a terrific person to have at our club for the last four seasons. He made a major contribution on and off the field, and we wish him and his wife Tayla all the best for their future.”

Montoya is anticipated to rejoin his former team, the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs, on a two-year contract. During his time with the Warriors, he scored 30 tries in 82 games, including playing all 27 matches in the 2023 season.
