A 27-year-old man charged with murdering his 25-year-old wife has pleaded not guilty. Apisai Madigibuli appeared before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere at the High Court in Suva on Thursday. Madigibuli is alleged to have fatally stabbed Kitiana Baravilala with a kitchen knife on April 25.
His lawyer from Legal Aid, Paula Gade, mentioned that since there were full admissions in the caution interview, a voir dire grounds application would be filed. Meanwhile, DPP lawyer Triveshni Sharma stated that the officer in charge of the matter and Mr. Gade would meet to discuss the pre-trial conference in 14 days.
Mr. Gade also informed the court that a bail application for his client would be filed in two weeks. The case has been adjourned to August 5.
