In recent operations in Malua Range, Navosa, law enforcement officials seized over 2,000 plants suspected to be marijuana following two significant raids conducted by the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department. The raids were initiated based on intelligence regarding marijuana cultivation activities in the area.

Officers faced challenging terrain and even spent a night in the highlands to locate the illicit farms. They uncovered more than 1,800 plants on one property and discovered another site containing over 900 plants, which varied in height from 10 cm to 2.5 meters.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu underscored the importance of this large seizure in disrupting the marijuana supply chain and emphasized ongoing initiatives aimed at targeting those involved in its cultivation and distribution. He acknowledged the recent arrests and court appearances that stemmed from these operations, thanking the community for their cooperation in providing valuable information.

The public is urged to assist police efforts by sharing any relevant information confidentially through Crime Stoppers or the appropriate SOCID and Police Command numbers.

This operation represents a vital step forward in combating illegal drug cultivation and ensuring safer communities. As law enforcement continues to tackle these challenges, the collaboration with the public is essential, enhancing safeguards against the proliferation of illicit drug activities.

In summary, the proactive approach taken by the police in these raids not only impacts the marijuana supply chain but also reflects a growing commitment to community engagement in the fight against organized crime.
