Authorities in Navosa’s Malua Range have uncovered over 2,000 illegal marijuana plants during two successful raids conducted by the police on Monday. This operation is part of an ongoing initiative to combat drug cultivation in the region, which includes both marijuana and hard substances.

The raids were executed by the Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department (SOCID) after receiving intelligence about the illegal marijuana farms in the area. Officers faced challenging conditions, requiring an overnight stay in the highlands prior to the raids. At one location, they uprooted more than 1,800 plants, while at another site, they removed over 900 plants, with sizes ranging from 10 cm to 2.5 meters.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, underscored the operation’s importance in disrupting the drug supply chain and praised the public for their assistance in providing information that led to these discoveries and subsequent arrests. He encouraged community members to report any information regarding drug activities, assuring them that their identities will be protected.

For those wishing to contribute information about illegal drug activities, they can reach out to Crime Stoppers or the designated SOCID numbers, ensuring that their tips remain confidential.

This proactive approach by law enforcement not only highlights the commitment to improving community safety but also fosters a collaborative environment between the police and the public in the fight against drug-related issues.

In a broader context, the success of these operations signals hope for a future where communities can work together to eradicate illegal drug cultivation, ultimately leading to a healthier and safer environment for all residents.
