Twelve individuals were apprehended over the past 48 hours in connection with alleged illegal drug possession. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu reported that several packets containing a white substance, suspected to be methamphetamine, were confiscated from a residence in Namara, Labasa, leading to the arrest of three men.
Additionally, more than $1,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds of crime, was seized during the operation. In Lautoka, in the Western Division, a 26-year-old man was discovered with two clear packets of white crystals, suspected to be methamphetamine, alongside bullets of dried leaves thought to be marijuana.
Four men were arrested in Rakiraki town after law enforcement uncovered multiple sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana and various packets containing white crystals, also thought to be methamphetamine. Two more men were taken into custody in Lautoka when they were found with sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana in separate incidents.
In Nadi, a 29-year-old man was arrested for possessing plants and seedlings that are suspected to be marijuana. A police raid in Tavakubu, Lautoka, conducted by a team including K9 officers, resulted in the seizure of white substances believed to be methamphetamine, leading to the arrest of a 44-year-old man.
Assistant Commissioner Driu emphasized that police operations are actively targeting suspected drug dealers. He stated, “We remain focused on disrupting and destabilizing the illicit drug trade with operations running concurrently in all five divisions. Please continue to share information, as every piece contributes to reducing supply.”
