Twelve individuals have been apprehended in connection with illegal drug possession. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu reported that the arrests took place over the last 48 hours.
Driu indicated that police seized several plastic bags containing white substances suspected to be methamphetamine during a raid at a residence in Namara, Labasa, leading to the detention of three men. Additionally, over $1,000 in cash, believed to be linked to criminal activities, was confiscated.
In the Western Division in Lautoka, a 26-year-old man was found in possession of two plastic bags with white crystals believed to be methamphetamine and bullets of dried leaves thought to be marijuana.
Four men were arrested in Rakiraki after law enforcement discovered various sachets of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana and several bags with white crystals presumed to be methamphetamine. Two other men were detained separately in Lautoka for having sachets of dried substances believed to be marijuana. In Nadi, a 29-year-old man was taken into custody for possessing plants and seedlings that are suspected to be marijuana.
This morning, a team of K9 officers conducted a raid in Tavakubu, Lautoka, resulting in the seizure of substances thought to be methamphetamine. A 44-year-old man was arrested during this operation and is now being held in custody.
ACP Driu noted that divisional operations are actively targeting suspected drug dealers, emphasizing the commitment to disrupting the illicit drug trade through ongoing operations across all five divisions.
