More than 200 rolls of aluminum foil filled with dried leaves and approximately a thousand small branches believed to be marijuana were confiscated in Tacirua, located near Suva, yesterday afternoon.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, the seizure was the result of a coordinated raid conducted by the Fiji Police Force, involving personnel from the Southern Division’s Serious and Organised Crime and Intelligence Department, the Fiji Detector Dog Unit, and the Police Dog Unit.
The operation targeted the residence of a 57-year-old man, where the illegal substances were found, reportedly ready for distribution. ACP Driu emphasized the importance of community collaboration with law enforcement.
“The raid demonstrates the ongoing support from community members in cooperating with the Fiji Police Force by providing valuable information,” he stated. “We are grateful to everyone who continues to back policing efforts in the fight against drugs.”
